On November 20, 2019, in Belgrade's Metropol Palace, an international conference "The role of business incubators in providing services to SMEs" was held, organized by the Ministry of Economy and the EUBID project - European Union support for business incubator development. The project is funded by the European Union and is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance, Department for Contracting and Financing of EU Programmes.
Within the conference, a certificate award ceremony was held for business incubators in six categories, with a choice of 36 initiatives. Startup Center Nis has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence for the Support to youth entrepreneurship. On that occasion, EUBID Project Leader Karl-Heinz Jah presented the Certificate to Startup Center Director Milos Grozdanovic.
The aim of the conference was to help business incubators and science and technology parks, as well as similar initiatives to support startups in the Republic of Serbia, to improve their business and services through the exchange of best practice experiences, networking and partnership development. The main results and conclusions of the Study on the Current Situation of Business Incubators in the Republic of Serbia were presented at the conference.
In addition to a large number of representatives of business incubators and science and technology parks in the Republic of Serbia, the Conference brought together representatives of business incubators from Europe, relevant ministries and support agencies for SMEs, universities, as well as institutions and funds for financial support for startups.
During June and July this year, our Center participated in EUBID peer review workshops, all with the aim of defining a strategy for further development of the Center for the next 3-5 years.
