60 organizations from the territory of southwestern and southeastern Serbia have applied for EU funds, which are obtained through the EU PRO program in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Out of 60 applicants, 20 organizations were selected.
This program supports business support organizations (OPP) projects that should contribute to the competitiveness and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs by supporting businesses to improve production processes and the quality of products and services, but also to certify and introduce relevant standards and specific activities aimed at conquering new markets.
One of these organizations is the Startup Center Nis with the project “Gaming Center”.
In the next eight months, Startup Center Nis will support the development of small and medium enterprises in the video game sector. A 50m2 workspace will be equipped with appropriate software and hardware workstations to facilitate the work of SMEs in the sector. Also, high school students and students will be educated about the gaming industry, the development of gaming companies, access to the global market, as well as the promotion and branding of projects.
The gaming industry is one of the fastest growing in the world and has long surpassed the film and music industry. There are more than 70 gaming companies and studios in Serbia, with an estimated 1,500 employees in this creative industry.
The Startup Center has signed up for this program with the idea of enabling young people in Nis to learn more about gaming and, in the future, perhaps to make Nis the center of the gaming industry for this part of the Balkans.
This project is funded by the European Union in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Serbia through the EU PRO program.
